What proves a crypto payment reached its destination?

A magnifying glass examines a fictional receipt.

A message saying “sent” can describe the start of a process. It does not establish every later result. A screenshot, a network transaction, a service’s credited balance and a local-money payout answer different questions.

What does the sender claim? A screenshot can show an amount, an address and a convincing tick. It can also be edited, incomplete or taken from another transaction. Treat it as a claim to verify. A transaction identifier gives you something to investigate; it is not proof by itself.

What does the correct network record show? Establish the network first, then inspect a trustworthy route to that record. Check the actual status, destination, relevant asset or token movement and amount. Pending means the outcome is still unresolved. Included does not always mean the intended action succeeded: a failed smart-contract execution can still appear on a network and may incur a fee. Interpret the relevant record rather than a colour alone.

Has the receiving service credited it? A service may require the supported asset/network combination, destination details, a minimum deposit and a stated confirmation or processing condition. Those are specific instructions, not one universal rule. A successful transfer to a service-controlled address does not independently prove that your account has been credited.

Has the promised payout arrived? A credited crypto balance is different from a completed conversion and from money arriving in a bank or mobile-money account. Check the relevant provider and destination records for each step. Network finality cannot confirm a separate bank transfer.

Here is a fictional example. A receiving service says it requires five confirmations followed by processing. The supplied network record shows five confirmations and the service independently shows Credited. That supports the crypto-credit result under these supplied conditions. If a later local payout still says Pending, local-money receipt remains unconfirmed. We can recognise the established result without pretending the whole chain is finished.

Do not rely on an apparent payment to release goods until the evidence meets the relevant receiving conditions. If something does not match, use independently reached official support and keep the uncertainty explicit. A stranger’s link or “release fee” demand does not become trustworthy because it arrived with a screenshot.
